ORIGINAL GRAVOL®

Help! I’m suffering from nausea, vomiting and dizziness right now. How can I relieve these symptoms?

Even if you are already feeling ill, original GRAVOL® with Dimenhydrinate will help treat nausea, vomiting, dizziness due to motion sickness. It may take at least half an hour before you notice some relief. Some GRAVOL® products are more appropriate than others.

Is there a Gravol® product that will relieve my nausea symptoms and won’t make me drowsy?

Yes. GRAVOL® Natural Source® Ginger Tablets or Lozenges are made with certified organic Ginger (the only active ingredient) and are used for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting. Ginger is a clinically proven antinauseant and does not cause drowsiness.

When vomiting has started and I can no longer tolerate oral treatment, what should I take?

You should try original GRAVOL® Suppositories with Dimenhydrinate, which are available in two dosage strengths – for Adults 100 mg, and for Children (2+ years) 25 mg.

Original GRAVOL® Suppositories with Dimenhydrinate are easy to use. Remove the foil or plastic from the suppository. For easier insertion and greater comfort, moisten and smooth any edges on the suppository before using.

Insert a half or whole suppository every 8 or 12 hours, or as recommended by your physician. To divide a suppository into two equal parts, remove it from the foil and use a knife with a sharp blade to cut through the suppository.

I have two children, a 3 year old and an 11 year old. What format of original GRAVOL® with Dimenhydrinate would you recommend?

Original GRAVOL® with Dimenhydrinate is available in a Child Strength (2+ years) format.

Original GRAVOL Kids™ (15 mg Dimenhydrinate) is available in two formats – a quick dissolve chewable cherry flavoured tablet and a fruit flavoured liquid. These products are ideal for your 3 year old because they can be used for children 2 to 6 years old.

For your 11 year old child, we recommend taking 2 of the original Gravol Kids™ Quick Dissolve Chewable Tablets (30 mg Dimenhydrinate) or ½ to 1 of the Adult Chewable Tablets (25 mg – 50 mg Dimenhydrinate). See carton for complete directions before use.

Can I take GRAVOL® products if I am pregnant/breast-feeding?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, GRAVOL® products should only be taken upon the recommendation of your doctor. As well, small amounts of the active ingredient in original GRAVOL®, Dimenhydrinate, are excreted in breast milk for women who are breastfeeding. We recommend that you take it only on the advice of your doctor.

What are the therapeutic properties of ginger?

The main compounds of ginger are the aromatic essential oils, anti-oxidants and the pungent oleo-resin. These active aromatic or pungent compounds have been identified as gingerols, shogaols and zingerone, and they provide most of the medicinal properties of ginger.1 In the digestive system, the pungent compounds of ginger decrease nausea and vomiting.2

Is there a limit to daily ginger consumption?

In general, ginger intake should not exceed four grams daily (this includes the ginger obtained through diet such as from ginger ale, ginger snaps and ginger bread). Usually, food sources contain no more than 0.5% ginger.3

How much ginger is in each GRAVOL® Natural Source® Ginger Tablets and Lozenges?

20 mg of Certified Organic Ginger (Zingiber officinale) (standardized to 25% Gingerols) (root and rhizome) is in each individual tablet and lozenge.

Can pregnant women use GRAVOL® Natural Source® Ginger Tablets & Lozenges?

The medicinal ingredient ginger is not contraindicated for pregnant women. All pregnant women, however, should consult their health care practitioner before taking medication of any sort.

Are GRAVOL® Natural Source® Ginger Tablets & Lozenges as effective as natural ginger tea or dried ginger root?

GRAVOL® Natural Source® Ginger Tablets & Lozenges are effective and portable – perfect for when nausea or vomiting hits when on the go. The tablets are taste-free and easy to swallow. The soft chewable lozenges taste great and there is no need for water – perfect for relief when needed the most.

Are GRAVOL® Natural Source® Ginger Tablets & Lozenges safe for children to use? Is there a child version?

GRAVOL® Natural Source® Ginger Tablets & Lozenges should not be used by children under six (6) years of age. There are other GRAVOL® products specifically for children to help prevent and treat nausea, vomiting and dizziness associated with motion sickness.

What is GRAVOL® Multi-symptom® used for?

GRAVOL® Multi-symptom® is used for the relief and prevention of nausea and vomiting and the relief of headache, fever and/or mild aches and pains Ginger is traditionally used in Herbal Medicine to help relieve digestive upset like nausea and indigestion. Ginger is also used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness and postoperative nausea. Willow bark is used to relieve headache, fever and mild aches and pains.

What medicinal ingredients are used in GRAVOL® Multi-symptom®?

What are the therapeutic properties of willow bark?

Willow bark is used to ease pain and reduce inflammation. Researchers believe that the chemical salicin, found in willow bark, is responsible for these effects. Studies have also identified several other components of willow bark that have fever-reducing, properties. The bark of white willow contains salicin, which is a chemical similar to aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). Salicin is the main component responsible for the pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects of the herb. In the past, salicin was used to develop aspirin.

Are there warnings with using willow bark?

Do not take with other blood thinners or anticoagulants.3

Is GRAVOL® Multi-symptom® safe for children to use? Is there a children’s version?

GRAVOL® Multi-symptom® is recommended for adults only. There are other GRAVOL® products specifically for children to help prevent and treat nausea, vomiting and dizziness due to motion sickness.
